The chamber helps evaluate changes such as:

  • Colour fading / colour change
  • Gloss loss
  • Yellowing
  • Cracking
  • Chalking
  • Surface deterioration
  • Embrittlement
  • Loss of physical properties
  • Weathering resistance
  • Lightfastness
  • UV/sunlight resistance

Testing Standards

The 4B Xenon Weathering Test Chamber can be configured for applicable requirements based on:

  • ASTM G155 – Xenon Arc Light Apparatus for Exposure of Materials
  • ASTM G151 – Exposure of Non-Metallic Materials Using Laboratory Light Sources
  • ISO 4892-2 – Plastics — Methods of Exposure to Laboratory Light Sources — Xenon-Arc Lamps
  • ISO 16474-2 – Plastics — Methods of Exposure to Laboratory Light Sources — Xenon-Arc Lamps
  • ISO 105-B02 – Textiles – Colour Fastness to Artificial Light
  • SAE J2527 – Accelerated Exposure of Automotive Exterior Materials
  • Other material-specific ASTM, ISO, DIN, JIS and customer test methods

ASTM G155 specifically covers xenon-arc light and water exposure apparatus, while ISO 4892-2 addresses xenon-arc lamp exposure of plastics.
